Glace Bay, Nova Scotia

Spent some time in Glace Bay yesterday, along the far eastern shore of Cape Breton Island.. Got the oil changed in the truck for a mere 82 loonies. Spent the rest of the day on the shoreline between Glace Bay and Louisbourg. Nyxy and I had one beach all to ourselves for most of the afternoon and it was quite relaxing. Collected about 30-40 sand dollars. Saw two gorgeous Northern Shrikes....wasn't fast enough with the camera and missed them. I will try again today as I desperately want a photo of this bird.

Some photos from the day. Enjoy!

On the dock.

On the beach.
No idea what it is,but it washed up in the tide and squirmed all over the place. I put him back in the ocean.

Cormorants on a Cliff.

In the marsh.
Two female American Black Ducks, note the dull green bills.

Cormorant and American Black Ducks.

Semipalmated Sandpiper on the beach.

Unknown beach somewhere between Glace Bay and Port Morien.

The Harbor at Glace Bay.

    1. It's not as cold down here in Louisbourg. I got a 2 bedroom cottage here for 2 nights, so i will be here until at least Monday afternoon. Oh yes! I am having a blast! I love the wildlife and the beaches and the people are sooooo nice.
